Shipping Policy

EU Containers Shipping & Delivery Policy

This shipping policy informs you about how EU Containers delivers maritime containers, which delivery times apply, and what preconditions for shipping, delivery, and any delivery delays are applicable.

1. Scope of application

1.1 This shipping and delivery policy applies to all deliveries by EU Containers to customers in the Netherlands and Belgium, unless individually agreed otherwise.

1.2 Additionally, our General Terms and Conditions (GTC), payment policy, and returns and refunds policy apply.

2. Delivery area

2.1 EU Containers standardly delivers shipping containers within the Netherlands and Belgium. For certain regions, islands or hard-to-reach locations, restrictions or special conditions may apply.

Whether delivery to your address is possible and what costs are associated with it will be communicated to you in the quotation, the order confirmation or upon request.

3. Delivery time: 5–7 days

3.1 Unless otherwise stated in the quotation, order confirmation or agreement, delivery of our containers generally takes place within 5–7 working days upon receipt of payment or after release in accordance with the agreed payment terms.

3.2 Stated delivery times are carefully calculated guidelines and assume that all necessary information (delivery address, access details, on-site contact person) is available in a timely manner. They do not constitute guaranteed deadlines, unless expressly agreed as such.

3.3 Legal provisions stipulate that deliveries must take place within an agreed timeframe or – if no timeframe has been agreed – within 30 days. Our target delivery time of 5–7 days is well below this maximum timeframe.

4. Shipping methods and logistics partners

4.1 The containers are generally transported by lorry via specialist transport companies. Depending on the project, we use various types of vehicle, e.g. container chassis, flatbed lorries or lorries fitted with a crane.

4.2 The specific logistics partner and the method of transport are selected by EU Containers taking into account the delivery location, container size, access options and desired delivery times.

4.3 In the order confirmation or as part of the delivery coordination, we will inform you about the planned delivery day and – as far as possible – the time window.

5. Delivery address and on-site prerequisites

5.1 The customer must ensure that the delivery address is correct, complete and suitable for delivery by lorry. This includes, in particular:

  • sufficient access width and load-bearing capacity of the access roads,
  • a suitable, preferably flat location for placing the container,
  • sufficient space for manoeuvring and crane operations,
  • no troublesome obstacles (e.g. deep ditches, low cables, overhanging branches) at the unloading location.

5.2 The customer is obliged to inform EU Containers or the logistics partner in advance about special risks or restrictions (e.g. access restrictions, narrow roads, access via private property).

5.3 Extra effort or costs resulting from insufficient information, inaccessibility or unprepared delivery locations may be charged to the customer.

6. Taking delivery

6.1 The customer or a person authorised by them must be on site on the agreed delivery date to take delivery, confirm the unloading location and answer any questions from the driver.

6.2 The customer is obliged to inspect the containers upon delivery for externally visible damage or deviations, and to report these immediately to the driver and subsequently document them to EU Containers.

6.3 If delivery is not accepted for reasons attributable to the customer (e.g. no one present, access impossible, unloading site not prepared), additional costs may be incurred for a new delivery attempt.

7. Shipping and delivery costs

7.1 Shipping and delivery costs are stated transparently in the quotation, during the ordering process or in the order confirmation. They depend in particular on:

  • distance between container location and delivery address,
  • container size(s) and number of containers,
  • required vehicle type (e.g. crane truck, heavy haulage),
  • any additional services (e.g., special unloading requirements).

7.2 All costs are set up in such a way that they correspond with the shipping details in the Google Merchant Center and are correctly recorded there, in order to guarantee transparency for customers.

8. Delivery delays

8.1 Despite careful planning, delivery delays may occur, for example due to traffic disruptions, weather conditions, government measures or other events of force majeure.

8.2 EU Containers informs customers as early as possible about foreseeable delays and states – where possible – a new, realistic delivery date.

8.3 The customer's statutory rights in the event of significant delivery delays (e.g. rescission after setting a reasonable deadline) remain unaffected.

9. Transfer of risk

9.1 In the case of consumers, the risk of accidental loss and accidental deterioration of the container passes at the time of delivery at the agreed unloading location.

9.2 In the case of business customers, the risk passes – unless otherwise agreed – at the moment the container is handed over to the carrier (forwarding agent, freight carrier) or upon loading at the agreed place of delivery.

10. Retrieval as part of returns and refunds

10.1 If a return or collection of the container is agreed upon on the grounds of withdrawal, a voluntary right of return or out of goodwill, the organisation of the collection will be arranged by EU Containers or a commissioned logistics partner.

10.2 The conditions for return, any costs for collection, and the exact procedure are set out in our returns and refunds policy and in individual agreements.

11. Transparency and compliance with Google Merchant

11.1 EU Containers ensures that all relevant shipping information (shipping area, delivery time of 5–7 days, shipping costs, special conditions) is displayed clearly and understandably on the website.

11.2 The terms and conditions described in this shipping policy correspond to the shipping information set out in the Google Merchant Center to ensure consistent, transparent communication with customers.
