The 45-foot sea container functions as a standardised cargo unit, designed to transport goods efficiently within international supply chains. Its construction consists of a steel frame with corrugated side walls, which ensure rigidity whilst minimising weight. The container is fully enclosed and offers protection against environmental factors such as rain, dust and impacts during handling.
As a high-cube variant, this container offers an extra 30 cm of vertical headroom compared to standard containers. This extra height is particularly advantageous for bulky but relatively light cargo, as it allows the available space to be utilised to the full without exceeding the weight limits. The internal length of approximately 13.55 metres (44 feet 6 inches) makes it possible to safely store longer items that might not fit into a standard 40-foot container.
The floor of the container is made of waterproof plywood, which, provided it is well distributed, can support concentrated loads from forklift trucks or palletised cargo. Multiple lashing points are integrated into the interior walls and floor rails, creating secure anchor points for securing goods during transport. The design of the container makes it possible to handle the container with overhead cranes, forklift trucks or sideloaders, ensuring versatility at various types of terminals and delivery locations.
